The Cinema Organ Society was founded in 1952, “for those interested in organ music as entertainment”. It is organized into four Districts – Scotland, Midlands and Wales, Northern and Southern (including London), ensuring strong local activity. Each District has its own cinema organ and organizes concerts, members’ practice, music workshops and other social activities. A monthly Newsletter, a quarterly glossy Journal and CD recordings are produced nationally.

The Society sees youth as the key to the future. It actively encourages young organists by offering practice and teaching facilities, as well as the opportunity to perform in public.

Theatre organs are distinctive from a musical and technical point of view, and the Society offers specialist advice and expertise on the installation and maintenance of instruments.

There is a strong social element to the Society and members who choose to participate more actively – whether running concerts, helping maintain organs or ‘just lending a hand’ – soon find they are enjoying themselves in congenial surroundings and making new friends.

The highest priority on the Society’s agenda at the moment is to re-house and hear once more the mighty Trocadero Wurlitzer. We hope you can share in making this dream a reality!
