Go Back

Penned a few days earlier than usual due to the Newsletter schedule over the Christmas break, the main things we have to report is that by the time you read this, the contract for the console enclosure should have been let and work about to begin, secondly that we can now accept on-line donations via the TWT website and last but not least that we have had a generous donation from the Leathersellers' Company.

Our original plan was to locate the console behind the staircase at the left hand corner of the balcony (an inheritance from the Bingo days), involving the construction of a relatively modest protective enclosure.

After much thought, we decided that the element of compromise, involving shortening the console platform and installing a temporary front, coupled with rather inconvenient access to the console, needed second thoughts. After due discussion with the Troxy management we agreed to re-locate the console enclosure under the stairs, closer to the main stalls area. This involves a new support structure for the stairway. Our plan is to have this work undertaken in January when the building is relatively quiet.

We appreciate that members have been very patient, waiting to see action on site and our intention as soon as the enclosure is completed is to move the console to the Troxy, giving members a chance to 'Come and See' at some kind of informal event. Watch this space!

Meantime, Tank up the Troc continues; as you can see from the Fuel Gauge, we have around £139, 560 in the tank and our thanks to those who have so generously contributed. Not least is a donation of £1000 from the Leathersellers' Company for leather for the Main organ wind-chests - perhaps the first request of this kind that they have received. My thanks to Sue Laflin and Graham Noble for their persistence in following up such sources of funding - a great deal of hard work has at last paid off.

It will shortly be possible to make on-line donations, including Gift Aid, via the TWT website, www.trocadero-wurlitzer.org. My thanks to John Leeming for his hard work in arranging this.

Finally, the T2T Roadshow visited Hampton-in-Arden in early December, creating a lot of interest as well as some welcome on-the-spot donations (many thanks!). Interest and support is clearly not confined to the London area, proving that this is a project of national significance for all members.
